Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about creating QR codes with QR Gen.

What is a QR code and how does it work?

A QR (Quick Response) code is a two-dimensional barcode that stores information like URLs, text, WiFi credentials, or contact details. When scanned with a smartphone camera, it instantly opens the encoded content. QR codes can store much more data than traditional barcodes.

Is QR Gen really free?

Yes, QR Gen is 100% free with no hidden costs. There are no watermarks on your QR codes, no download limits, and no signup required. You can create unlimited QR codes in any format.

Do I need to create an account or sign up?

No, QR Gen requires no signup, registration, or account creation. Just visit the site, create your QR code, and download it. Your data stays in your browser and is never sent to any server.

How do I create a WiFi QR code?

Select the WiFi content type, enter your network name (SSID), password, and encryption type (WPA/WPA2 is most common). Download the QR code and print it. Guests can scan it to connect to your WiFi instantly without typing the password.

How do I create a vCard QR code for my business card?

Select the vCard content type and fill in your contact details: name, phone, email, organization, and website. The generated QR code, when scanned, will prompt the scanner to save your contact information directly to their phone.

What download formats are available?

QR Gen offers PNG downloads at multiple resolutions (500x500, 1000x1000, 2000x2000, and 4000x4000 pixels) and scalable SVG format. SVG is ideal for print materials as it scales to any size without losing quality.

Can I customize the colors and style of my QR code?

Yes, you can fully customize your QR code with custom foreground and background colors, different dot patterns (square, rounded, dots, classy), eye frame styles, and corner dot styles. Choose from preset style templates or create your own look.

Can I add a logo to my QR code?

Yes, you can upload a logo (PNG, JPG, GIF, or WebP, max 2MB) to overlay on your QR code. The error correction level is automatically set to High to ensure the code remains scannable even with the logo covering part of it.

Is my data safe? Where is it processed?

Your data is completely safe. QR Gen processes everything in your browser (client-side). Your content is never uploaded to any server. No data is collected, stored, or tracked. The QR code is generated entirely on your device.

How do I scan a QR code?

Most modern smartphones can scan QR codes directly with the built-in camera app. Just open your camera, point it at the QR code, and tap the notification that appears. No special app is needed on iPhone (iOS 11+) or most Android phones.
